11. Working Meeting of the German Alliance for Trade Facilitation

The working meetings of the German Alliance for Trade Facilitation thrive on professional exchange, joint ideas, and great commitment of the partners. After a long period of virtual formats, this year's spring meeting was marked by personal encounters. More than 20 partners came together in a hybrid format.

Sri Lanka: Public-private consultation workshop on the benefits of digitising maritime trade

On March 10th, Sri Lanka Customs Authority (SLC) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH hosted a private sector consultation workshop in the context of their joint project ‘Digitising Global Maritime Trade’ (DGMT). SLC is making continuous efforts to improve digital access to sea cargo information.

Indonesia: Implementing a Risk-Based Approach at the Ministry of Trade

The Indonesian Ministry of Trade plans to officially implement the Trusted Traders concept this year, resulting from a joint project with the German Alliance for Trade Facilitation. Moreover, measurable time reductions in import and export processes were achieved.

Official Launch of the ‘Digitizing Global Trade’ project in Ghana

The ‘Digitizing Global Trade’ (DGT) project in Ghana was officially launched at an event held on 11 November 2021 in Accra. The project aims to simplify and digitize the export procedures and documentation to facilitate exports.

Launch of 'Digitizing Global Trade' Project in Rwanda

The project partners have validated the ‘Digitizing Global Trade’ (DGT) project in Rwanda. Over a two-year timeframe, the project aims to strengthen trade efficiency by using digital solutions on Pre-Arrival Processing (PAP) as well as on Pre-Departure Processing (PDP) and export facilitation for postal and express shipments.

10th Working Meeting of the German Alliance for Trade Facilitation

About 30 partners of the network came together virtually for the 10th working meeting of the German Alliance. Next to exchanging on current and planned projects, there were time and occasion to retrospect the past 5 years of the Alliance.

Countries selected for the ‘Digitizing Global Trade’ initiative

The Digitizing Global Trade initiative will begin its work in six countries initially – Cambodia, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Montenegro and Rwanda. The goal is to streamline customs clearance by digitalising trade procedures. More countries will follow.

Serbia: Preparations for regular use of the PAP system are underway

The Serbian customs administration has set up the legal and IT framework for implementing the new Pre-Arrival Processing system (PAP). All three national express operators have applied for a license for this trade facilitation measure and have already been approved.

Indonesia and New Zealand share insights on joint border and integrated risk management

Indonesian officials and business leaders visited New Zealand as part of the Indonesian trade facilitation project of the German Alliance for Trade Facilitation. The delegation used the stdy visit to discuss a wide range of topics related to risk management in the context of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement.

First Scoping-Mission to Thailand Sucessfully Completed

A team of Thai and German representatives of the GIZ conducted a one week long scoping mission in Bangkok. The mission aimed at the gathering of detailed information for the development of possible projects.
