Project Completion in Montenegro
After two years of joint project work, on July 6, 2018, the final event of the project “Implementation of an electronic pre-arrival customs clearance system” took place in Budva, Montenegro. The project partners celebrated the introduction of an electronic customs clearance system for advance notifications of goods. With the help of this system, a 100% increase in customs clearance for express goods within one hour after arrival has already been achieved.
Mr. Novo Radovińá, Director General of Taxation and Customs at the Ministry of Finance and Co-Chair of the National Committee for Trade Facilitation opened the event. He congratulated the customs administration on the successful reform and thanked the Alliance and project partner DHL Express for their good cooperation.
“The implementation of this project has significantly sped up our procedures and improved the customs clearance system for express consignments,” Radovińá stated. He emphasized the Alliance’s approach and close cooperation with the private sector as a key criterion for the success of the project.
Mr. Vladan Jokovińá, Director of the Montenegrin Customs Administration, highlighted the electronic processing of customs data and the creation of corresponding goods-risk profiles as further important milestones in project implementation.
Representatives of the customs administrations in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and North Macedonia came congratulate their Montenegrin colleagues on the introduction of the new system. Inspired by the success of the project in Montenegro, all four customs administrations are currently planning similar projects in line with the Alliance’s approach.
