Fifth Alliance working meeting at Drägerwerk in Lübeck, Germany

With the “Vision 2022”, the German Alliance for Trade Facilitation has set itself clear goals for the coming years. At the 5th working meeting, the Alliance partners once again emphasized their high level of commitment in order to further advance the Alliance and its projects.

On March 14 and 15, 2019, 24 partners of the German Alliance for Trade Facilitation came together for their semi-annual working meeting in Lübeck. At the invitation of Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA, partners discussed the further strategic orientation as well as country and project focuses of the Alliance.

Stefan Dräger, CEO of Drägerwerk and Daniela Zehentner-Capell, Head of Division at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), welcomed the participants with warm words. Participants then had the opportunity to exchange their experiences and successes on the ongoing projects in Argentina, Brazil, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Morocco, Montenegro, Nigeria, Serbia, Tunisia and Ukraine.

As every year, the aim of this working meeting was to jointly select a new project country. It was decided that – among other countries – project scoping in Thailand should begin in the second half of the year. As a basis for this decision, the participating companies had already suggested potential project countries in an ideas competition prior to the meeting. Subsequently, the Alliance’s Strategy and Vision until 2022, which was drafted at the last working meeting, was adopted. The partners set clear goals for the Alliance for the coming years, which will be followed strategically. The participants also were highly engaged in the last point of the agenda, which allowed them to exchange views on specific challenges at several topic tables.

The German Alliance for Trade Facilitation would like to thank all participants and in particular Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA for their extraordinary commitment and looks forward to the months ahead. The next working meeting in the fall of this year is expected to take place in Berlin. All interested parties are cordially invited to attend and can obtain further information from the office of the Alliance.
