Brazil – Improving the efficiency of product safety regulations

The project of the Alliance in Brazil is unfolding further – project concept agreed upon.

July 2020

The Brazilian government is working on an innovative regulatory approach to increase the efficiency of product safety regulation. It will simplify the process of certification for import licenses. The new cooperation project of the Alliance will support the “National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology” (INMETRO) in Brazil to implement this new regulatory framework.

The objective of the project is to increase regulatory efficiency with respect to two trade-relevant sectors to be defined. The project will provide technical assistance to work out the sectoral regulations and align them with international best practices and national legislative reforms towards market liberalization.

The project will be implemented through the “Trade for Development Fund” by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in cooperation with the “Global Programme for Quality Infrastructure” (GPQI) by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).
