Alliance Partners Exchange Views on Possible Blockchain Pilot Project
On November 16, 2018, interested Alliance partners met to discuss opportunities for a pilot project on trade facilitation through blockchain technology. Nearly twenty participants from BMZ, GIZ and various companies attended the event, which was organized by the Alliance’s administrative office, at the Impact Hub Berlin and via video conference.
After a welcoming speech by Ms. Zehentner-Capell (BMZ) and introductory inputs from GIZ, the main focus was on the evaluation of possible areas of application for blockchain technology in the context of trade and customs processes. The participating companies presented their previous experiences and plans in this area and shared their priorities for a possible pilot project with the group.
The Alliance’s administrative office will remain in continuous contact with the interested partners and further specify the possibilities for a blockchain pilot project. Together with interested Alliance partners, it will also participate in the Chain2Sustain conference on November 29, 2018 to further develop the ideas under discussion.
