Rethinking Trade Facilitation
How can governments and companies work together to make customs processes in international trade more transparent and efficient
High-ranking guests from politics and business discussed these and other questions at the High-Level Forum “Rethinking Trade Facilitation” of the Alliance for Trade Facilitation. On the afternoon of September 9, 2019, almost 100 representatives from politics and business attended the event at the Museum for Communication in Berlin. Together with speakers, including Norbert Barthle (Parliamentary State Secretary, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development) and Dr. Thomas Ogilvie (Member of Management Board Deutsche Post DHL), the guests from German companies, trade associations and alliance partner countries talked about the challenges of cross-border trade and new cooperation formats.

RETHINKING TRADE FACILITATION
A NEW APPROACH TO PUBLIC-PRIVATE COOPERATION
September 09, 2019, 04:00 – 06.30 pm, Museum for Communication, Berlin
International trade is a driver of prosperity and sustainable development. Removing trade barriers is therefore in the common interest of business and governments. In order to make international trade in goods more transparent and simpler, the member states of the World Trade Organization (WTO) concluded an agreement on trade facilitation in 2013.
The Alliance for Trade Facilitation is committed to implementing the agreement together with governments and business. The Alliance develops its projects on the initiative of and in direct consultation with companies and business associations and moderates an international public-private dialogue across borders. The Alliance contributes to the implementation of the global agreement in local projects.
How can governments and companies work together to make customs processes in international trade more transparent and efficient?
